I’m an avid reader, writer, educator and advocate for all things books and reading.

After over twenty years as a private music instructor and studio owner, as well as a brief career as an actor/singer, I left music and slowly shifted my professional focus to advocating for access to great books and the freedom to read for every student.

As an artist and a teacher, I’ve always believed that story is central to our human experience and that books are the most accessible and important vehicle for the critical work of sharing our lived experiences.

I hold a B.M. and M.M. in Vocal Performance, as well as a few credit hours toward the MLIS I wish I had the time to complete. A member of the American Library Association and the American Association of University Women, I’m currently working as a substitute teacher in Ventura County schools as I build my literacy outreach work. I live in Camarillo, CA with my family and desperately neglected garden.
