1.Start with books you have at home!
Do you have used kids’ books in good condition that need a new home? Check out the guidelines to find out if we can take them.
2.Consider purchasing gently used books.
The Friends of the Camarillo Library bookstore is a great place to find used books in good condition. Children’s novels are usually priced very affordably at $1-3 per book. Friends of the Library is also a good place to donate books that we can’t take for the drive. Both your donations and purchases there also support our wonderful library!
3.Consider purchasing new books for the Drive at The Bookworm, our local independent bookstore and a partner in the Drive.
Purchasing at The Bookworm is a great way to support both our local schools and a local small business/indie bookshop. They carry quite a few books that would be perfect for the middle schools and will be happy to help you choose titles to contribute. Many kids’ paperback novels are also more affordable, running $5-13 per book.
4.Out of town, but still want to contribute?
Call The Bookworm and place an order directly over the phone. They can help you choose a title already in stock or have your donation title of choice shipped straight to the store, saving you shipping and hassle. If you prefer, you can purchase a Bookworm gift card, which will be saved until after the drive on December 6th and used to purchase titles for rounding out the collection. You may also order through their storefront on bookshop.org.
IMPORTANT: If ordering a title that needs to be shipped, be sure to have the book shipped to the store and note that it’s for the book drive. Shipping takes some time, so be sure to have all orders in by Friday, 11/22, in order to ensure arrival in time for the drive.
